WPPI welcomes Evansville Water & Light to NorthStar
Technology Suite
Evansville Water & Light has spent more than eight years focusing on upgrading to automated metering. On Feb. 1, it concluded that effort by officially implementing billing and customer information software NorthStar.
Utility Billing Clerk Donna Hammett said the shift for the 4,200 electric meters the utility serves is instrumental in helping residents better understand their bills.
“When customers have the ability to look at all of their information in the palm of their hand or sitting in front of their own computer, they are empowered to better understand it and make informed decisions about their energy use,” Hammett said. “For us at the utility it has been invaluable too because we have better access to data ourselves.”
NorthStar helps aid local utility operations with meter management, web-based billing and online bill pay. WPPI Energy, of which Evansville Water & Light is a member-owner, provides support, such as maintaining and updating software and creating custom data reports so local utility staff members can focus on their customers.
This service is another example of the shared strength in the membership of WPPI.
