Chairperson Mike Kuglitsch was presented with the “Friend of WPPI Energy” award on Mar. 30, 2022, at the WPPI Energy headquarters in Sun Prairie, Wis.

The presentation was attended by local utility leaders, members of the WPPI Energy Board of Directors, and dozens of WPPI Energy employees who all gathered to recognize Kuglitsch for his work on behalf of the many Wisconsinites served by public power utilities.

During the presentation, CEO of WPPI Energy Mike Peters shared, “WPPI and our public power members across the state have always participated in the legislative arena, but I would be hard pressed to think of another legislator, let alone the chair of an energy committee, who has listened to and responded to the interests and concerns of municipal utilities and their customers like Chairman Kuglitsch has done over the course of his eight years leading the Assembly Energy and Utilities Committee.”

Kuglitsch was also praised for his service to the State of Wisconsin and for his focus on ensuring state energy policy provides Wisconsinites with safe, reliable, and affordable energy. The award comes on the heels of Kuglitsch announcing he will not seek another term in the State Assembly.

The engraved award also doubles as a desk lamp attached to an old 1920 Westinghouse electric meter, which spins while the lamp is in use.
