Member Utilities
Cedarburg Light & Water has hired Ben Collins as the new general manager for the community’s locally owned, not-for-profit electric and water utility. Collins takes over the role from Dale Lythjohan, who served as general manager for the past 29 years.
“We are pleased to welcome Ben to his new role,” shared Lythjohan. “We are confident that his industry experience, commitment to community, and passion for delivering safe, reliable and affordable service will help keep the utility on its path towards continued success.”
Collins began work on Sept. 19.
“Cedarburg is a vibrant community and similar in many ways to the community I’m coming from,” said Collins, referring to Marquette, Mich. “Being able to use my experience to help Cedarburg Light & Water continue as a top electric and water utility is really exciting to me. I look forward to ensuring the utility remains a valuable asset that the community is proud to call its own.”
The general manager for Cedarburg Light & Water is responsible for both day-to-day management of activities and long-term planning, including overseeing the utility’s financial health, operations, maintenance, and the delivery of electric power and water to the community.
Collins served most recently as manager of utility planning and projects for Marquette Board of Light and Power. He plans to keep an eye to the future so that as opportunities are identified, customers, employees, and the community are able to take advantage of them.
For now, Collins says that his main focus is to get to know the dedicated utility employees and the community they serve.
