Building a Foundation: Regulation, Accounting and Reporting
October 11, 2023 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm
@WPPI Conference Center
RSVP by Friday, September 29
Want to know how accounting practices work within municipal utilities? Understand some regulatory requirements but seek to learn more? Confused about how to compose reports?
State government helps shape the look of municipal utilities from regulations down to accounting practices which in turn impact the customers.
This day-long course aims to aid both beginners looking to gain more understanding and experienced industry members who may want to brush up on a topic they already know or even dive into a subject not directly connected to their position. It provides useful resources to reference in the everyday of utility operations and helps outline how outside entities shape the utility.
Agenda topics include:
- Regulatory Environment (FERC/State Accounting Standards; Rate Tariffs, Municipal Codes/Ordinances; Reporting Requirements)
- Municipal Utility Services (Federal/State/Local Governance; Service Territory; Customer Classifications)
- A Day in the Life (Customer Perspective; Utility Staff Perspective)
- Utility Accounting 101 (CIS – NorthStar Structure; Reconciliation Tips; Reporting Requirements)
With the health and safety of all training attendees being an ongoing priority, WPPI requests attendees refrain from attending in-person events if you have any symptoms of illness and/or have been diagnosed with COVID-19 or any other communicable disease in the days leading up to the training. Should this occur, please contact Amy Giessen with your cancellation notice.
Thank you.
