WPPI Energy is posting this job opening on behalf of  Norway Department of Power and Light.

The Norway Department of Power and Light is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the position of Journeyman Lineman/Hydro Operator. This is a full-time, non-exempt position.

The journeyman line technician will assist with construction, maintenance, and repair of the overhead and underground electric distribution system of Norway Electric. Work involves the performance of skilled electric tasks in the construction and maintenance of Norway Electric owned electric system in accordance with standard trade practices.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Thorough knowledge of electrical theory and electric
    distribution systems.
  • Strong ability to read electrical maps and schematics.
  • Effectively and consistently maintains strong working
    relationships with employees and the
    public.
  • Ability to climb poles and safely work on and around
    energized equipment.
  • Ability to perform calculations related to the electric utility.
  • Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety
    precautions of the trade.
  • Must be mechanically inclined.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Preferred minimum of 3 years journey level worker
    experience.
  • Required high school diploma or GED and completion of Line
    worker apprenticeship.
  • Valid Commercial Driver’s License and CDL with air brake
    certification.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • First Aid and CPR certified.
  • Shall reside within 15 miles of the utilities office.

WAGE RANGE: $45.87 per IBEW 906
