Journey Level or Advanced Step Apprentice Electric Line Worker – City of Evansville

The City of Evansville is accepting applications for the position of a Journey level or preferred third step or higher Apprentice Electric Line Worker within the Water & Light Utility. We are seeking an energetic individual with a high level of reliability, accountability, and accuracy. This is a full-time position which is responsible for day-to-day operations, maintenance and repair of electrical systems.

A journey-level line worker must have completed an indentured apprenticeship program. The third step or higher apprentice must be currently enrolled in an apprenticeship program. Applicants must have the ability to perform strenuous physical labor and heavy manual tasks including climbing and working with energized lines. Knowledge of safety rules and good communication skills are important. Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent and a current valid Wisconsin Commercial Driver’s License with air brakes and combination trailer endorsement is required. A DMV background check, drug test and a pre-employment physical exam will be required. This position requires after-hours emergency repairs, with evening, weekend and Holiday on-call duty. Applicants must be able to respond to these situations in a reasonable time.

This Journey level position offers a starting wage of $44.00. The third step apprentice wage starts at $41.85.
