18 Members Earn National Safety Award

Two Rivers Water & Light and City Utilities of Richland Center are among 18 WPPI Energy member utilities that received the Safety Award of Excellence

18 WPPI Energy member utilities recently earned the American Public Power Association (APPA)’s Safety Award of Excellence, a national award that recognizes locally owned utilities that had the lowest numbers of incidents, based on the number of work-related reportable injuries or illnesses and the number of worker-hours during 2016, as defined by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). 

The following members received the award, announced May 8 at APPA’s annual Engineering & Operations Technical Conference in San Antonio, Texas:

First Place - City Utilities of Richland Center - Electric, Columbus Water and Light, Evansville Water and Light, Lodi Utilities, Muscoda Utilities, Waupun Utilities, Whitehall Electric Utility, Black River Falls Municipal Utilities, Brodhead Water and Light, New Richmond Utilities, Reedsburg Utility Commission, River Falls Municipal Utility, Stoughton Utilities, Sun Prairie Utilities, Oconomowoc Utilities and Sturgeon Bay Utilities

Second Place - New Holstein Utilities

Third Place - Two Rivers Water and Light

“Our members go above and beyond to make safety a priority,” said WPPI Energy President and CEO Mike Peters. “They are well-deserving of this recognition, and I extend my heartfelt congratulations to them.”
