Accounting Clerk (Payables)  Sun Prairie, WI

Do you have the desire to work both independently and as a team-player? If so, WPPI Energy is seeking an individual like you to join our Finance department as an Accounting Clerk.

As a member of our knowledgeable team of finance and accounting staff, you will:

  • Scan and enter invoice information into accounting system to route for approval.
  • Pay bills by check or ACH and upload positive pay information to the bank.
  • Reconcile general accounts payable module to general ledger.
  • File and maintain accounts payable invoices and other records.
  • Enter transaction data into spreadsheets.
  • Answer vendor and employee questions.
  • Maintain 1099 information on vendors as well as prepare and send 1099s.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Desired qualifications for this position include:

  • Associate’s degree in a related field and at least two years of accounting experience; or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Strong computer skills including experience with accounting software and Excel.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated analytical and accounting skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.

Desktop Support Intern  Sun Prairie, WI


WPPI Energy is seeking a Desktop Support Intern to assist the Technology Solutions team providing desktop and end-user application support. Students working towards a computer science, helpdesk support, or similar degree are encouraged to apply.

This intern position will give you a great opportunity to gain experience working in a corporate environment with a team of professionals. The Desktop Support Intern works within a team of network engineers, system administrators and desktop support analyst to provide excellent service to end users. The hours for this Summer position will be approximately 24 hours per week.

What you will do in this role:

  • Provide first line support via telephone, e-mail, or in-person to internal and external users.
  • Provide workstation and laptop support to users of WPPI Energy’s internal and external supported networks.
  • Provide technical assistance for printers, scanners, and copiers.
  • • Other duties as assigned that could be within the IT department or in another department.

Skills we are looking for:

  • Strong knowledge of personal computers, Windows operating system and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and interact with end users with a positive and cheerful attitude.
  • Ability to follow up on support requests and prioritize tasks to get the most important ones done first.

Generation Engineer  Sun Prairie, WI


Are you an engineer with power generation experience who is looking to apply your abilities to a wide range of challenges?  Would you welcome the opportunity to be involved in all aspects of the operation and maintenance of a fleet of power generating facilities?  If so, WPPI Energy is seeking an individual like you to keep our generating facilities operating safely, efficiently and economically.

As a member of small team responsible for a diverse set of power generating facilities, you will apply your technical and problem‐solving abilities to:

  • Provide ongoing analysis of power generating facilities to keep costs down, availability high and operational risks low.
  • Assist in the engineering, management, estimating, and oversight of generating facility maintenance and improvement projects.
  • Assist in the planning, scheduling, cost estimating, and direction of generating facility outages.
  • Provide engineering support for the planning, scheduling, analysis, development and implementation of potential new generation projects.

Qualified candidates will preferably have:

  • A four-year degree in engineering.
  • Prior technical experience in the power industry.
  • Experience with gas turbine generating facilities.
  • Wisconsin certification as an Engineer in Training or Professional Engineer is a plus.

Program Assistant  Sun Prairie, WI

If so, WPPI Energy is seeking an individual like you to join our Distribution Services team as a Program Assistant.

As a member of our Distribution Services team, you will:

  • Support WPPI’s Joint Purchasing Program by managing and maintaining all records and reports including requests for proposal, purchase orders, vendor files, etc., as well as monitoring and managing utility material orders via specialized purchasing software.
  • Provide assistance to and serve as primary back up for Joint Purchasing Coordinator.
  • Prepare reports, agendas, handouts and other documents to support various Distribution Services department meetings and initiatives.
  • Manage Distribution Services inventory and document metering service work.
  • Perform a variety of administrative duties as needed including data entry, spreadsheet preparation, graphing, word processing, copying, filing, coordinating mailings, booking travel arrangements and providing back up phone coverage.

Desired qualifications for this position include:

  • Associate degree in a related field and at least two years of administrative or other related professional experience; or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills and ability to read and comprehend general business periodicals, professional journals, technical manuals and material catalogs.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to effectively communicate with members, vendors and internal staff.
  • Strong computer, software, and technical skills including proficiency with Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point, database software and other specialized software.
  • Prior experience in the electric utility industry and/or familiarity with utility materials and construction standards is a plus.
